The People’s Constitution Project

Sponsored by Bartholomew County Indivisible

OUR MISSION: Engage the community in Get Out the Vote action before the Midterms and affirm Hoosiers’ commitment to supporting the Constitution and its inalienable rights.

THE PLAN: Standing shoulder to shoulder, we will encircle the statehouse with banners focused on the Constitution and signature panels supplied by every Indivisible Indiana chapter and other pro-Democracy groups (see photo above).

THE METHOD: Banners representing the Constitution (or one of the rights afforded by it) will be reproduced on bed sheets, poster-board, fabric and more. Each chapter will cut fabric panels (white cloth, approx. 2’x 4’) on which people will sign their names with permanent markers. Anyone can sign who supports the Constitution—think Indivisible general meetings, rallies, farmers markets, community group get-togethers, anywhere that people congregate.

THE PAYOFF: We will gather on a day (TBD) before the Midterms and encircle the entire statehouse with banners and signature panels, proclaiming to the country that Red State Indiana supports the Constitution and the right to vote. Media coverage could help boost voting in Indiana and beyond. Plus, engaging community members through this project enables Indivisible chapters to expand membership, develop collaborative partnerships and educate the community about threats to our democracy.
