Who We Are.

Who is Bartholomew County Indivisible?

  • Bartholomew County Indivisible (BCI) is a grass-roots organization of individuals promoting policies and programs having a direct and positive impact on residents of Bartholomew County.
  • We promote policies in Bartholomew County that protect and enhance:
                -   the health and well-being of our residents
                -   the health of our environment
                -   the rights of workers
                -   the human rights of all our residents
                -   the strength and relevance of our public education system
                -   transparency in government
                -   our traditional freedoms, including freedom of religion and
                     freedom of the press
                -   open and courteous dialogue among all our residents.
  • We are committed to active engagement with both the public and private sectors of our community.

Indivisible Makes a Difference

Indivisible receives serious props from none other than the New York Times for stopping the Republicans with Health Care.  Here is the article from the New York Times.

Our Work Groups

There are currently 8 sub-committees focused on tackling and addressing issues in the following areas:
​
Gerrymandering/Redistricting/Voter Suppression – put up redistricting yard signs; monitor House and Senate bills; support local Get Out the Vote; understand prison gerrymandering, purging of voter rolls and voter suppression of people of color.

Healthcare – presentation on HIP 2.0; research work requirement and budget proposal; visit MoC’s with NIMA date; educate public

Responsible Gun Policy  - Billboard for Interstate 65 highlighting children deaths at the hands of Guns. 

Human Rights/Criminal Justice Reform/Hate Crimes/Civil Rights – plan 2nd annual Diversity event; encourage legislators to pass Hate Crime legislation; reach out to schools, universities

Immigration – letters to editor re. DACA and the wall; DACA rallies; visit senators; promote immigration reform that is fair to all.

Voter Registration/Get Out the Vote – create voter registration plan to start shortly after primary

Public Education – encourage membership in ICPE; learn about CEC; collaborate with gun safety group; influence legislators

Executive Branch Accountability/Rapid Response/$$ Out of Politics – help elect responsible candidates; proactive protection of balance of power; promote honesty and integrity
